Back in 2001, I met a strange Brazilian guy, Kleber Menezes. We both happened to be living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at the time. He was a friend of a friends, a good-spirited guy who liked cats. I am allergic to cats. Due to this allergy, I never went over to his apartment. We would meet at local spots for drink, conversation, and debauchery.
Time passed and one day I somehow ended up visiting Kleber at his apartment. In this dark, dingy basement, his artwork covered the walls. They were giant works which had such strong presence. Who would have thought that this mild-mannered guy was making such innovative, thought provoking work? I was instantly taken. Upon closer inspection, I realized that these weren’t giant prints — Kleber had been printing out his artwork in sections of 8.5x11” paper.
It took seven years of convincing, but I’ve finally gotten Kleber to agree to release some of his work to the public.
We are releasing two limited edition prints, “Journey” and “Field”, digital prints on rolled canvas, hand signed, numbered (series of 100 each), 28“x44”. These prints are true to the original size Kleber used in his apartment, they are big.
