Back in 2001, I met a strange Brazil­ian guy, Kle­ber Menezes. We both hap­pened to be liv­ing in Williams­burg, Brook­lyn at the time. He was a friend of a friends, a good-spirited guy who liked cats. I am aller­gic to cats. Due to this allergy, I never went over to his apart­ment. We would meet at local spots for drink, con­ver­sa­tion, and debauchery.

Time passed and one day I some­how ended up vis­it­ing Kle­ber at his apart­ment. In this dark, dingy base­ment, his art­work cov­ered the walls. They were giant works which had such strong pres­ence. Who would have thought that this mild-mannered guy was mak­ing such inno­v­a­tive, thought pro­vok­ing work? I was instantly taken. Upon closer inspec­tion, I real­ized that these weren’t giant prints — Kle­ber had been print­ing out his art­work in sec­tions of 8.5x11” paper.

It took seven years of con­vinc­ing, but I’ve finally got­ten Kle­ber to agree to release some of his work to the public.

We are releas­ing two lim­ited edi­tion prints, “Jour­ney” and “Field”, dig­i­tal prints on rolled can­vas, hand signed, num­bered (series of 100 each), 28“x44”. These prints are true to the orig­i­nal size Kle­ber used in his apart­ment, they are big.
